Improving Through Experience
(Scroll for detail)
Purely by scouting land, your Scout will not only become faster, but improve in countless ways unique to your Scout's specific experiences.
Every obstacle thrown at your Scout is an opportunity to gain valuable experience by overcoming it.
Improve your marksmanship by surviving a bear attack with your quick-draw rifle skills.
Mountaineering experience will make you more surefooted next time you cross unstable or steep terrain.
And so on.
The Experience Race
Scouts all improve in the same way, proportionately to how much experience they gain.
This means that Scouts who start exploring early will gain a substantial lead over future recruits.
As long as you keep them scouting, no future Scouts will ever be able to surpass them.
It's all about how early they start, and how much they explore.
Endless Use for Scouts
On top of exploring uncharted lands, a Scout has many valuable uses.
Send one along with a wagon train to boost it with their skills, improving its speed, survivability, and even letting it chart a shorter path across unexplored territory.
As Eureka progresses into the future, there will always be new and powerful roles for Scouts.
Hiring Them Out
Don't need your Scout at the moment? List them for hire on your local job boards and let another player pay you for the privilege of using them.
Your Scout will continue to gain valuable experience through their gameplay, just as if you were using them.
